Apple are brilliant at rolling at software updates on a regular basis and they all bring new and improved features, iOS 13.4 is just that! This year will see another improved version of iOS hitting your Apple devices but what exactly does it entail? By regularly rolling out all these updates, Apple can make sure your devices are safe and running smoothly.

What is iOS 13.4?

iOS the operating service that all iPhones run on. iOS 13.4 is the most recent version of this. Anyone with an iPhone knows just how well this OS and device work together and that’s because iOS is made by Apple. They don’t offer any other smartphone brands the use of their system. By doing this, they can cater the system to their devices and make it work with key features of the phone. They roll out regular updates, a couple of times a year, which make minor improvements and debug any possible issues. With each major update brings a new iOS, and a whole range of new features.

iOS 13.4 Features

A lot of the new features of this iOS 13 were camera improvements, perhaps getting ready for their big improvement in the iPhone 11 cameras. We won’t go over every single one as you would be here for days however, if you want to see more, you can head over to Apple’s website.

One of the most noticeable enhancements from the upgraded OS is Dark Mode. You can now turn your apps into a dark background, perfect to avoid straining your eyes. This gets rid of the bright white screen and avoids disturbing those around you. It’s super easy to turn this on with a simple on/off button available from the control centre or, you can schedule it to turn on and off based on the time.

A few of the best upgrades in the camera department include auto-playing live photos. This allows live photos to play in your photo gallery as you scroll past them. You’ll also find that your phone will hide duplicate photos, screenshots, etc… leaving your best images only. The photo gallery itself has also had a bit of a makeover to hopefully, make it easier for you to find your photos. You can relive your moments by separating days, months or years into different files. You’ll also find that any important events are filed away together and you’re presented with a file of all your great memories. Any photos you have of your friends or family, will be highlighted on their birthdays to remind you. Of course, you need to enter these but, you’ll never have a reason to forget again!

What devices can you get it on?

Not all Apple devices are able to experience the new level of iOS however, there is a huge range of phones that will get access! If you’ve got an iPhone 6S or any older iPhone, this is where your updates end. It’s probably about time to get a new phone as you can get some newer iPhones for the same price! Anything from the iPad Air 2 and older, as well as the iPad mini 4 and the iPhone SE will not have access to iOS 13 either. If you’ve got a new iPad, you also won’t be getting iOS 13.4. Instead, you’ll have a whole new version of iPadOS, way more suited for your device.

How do you download it?

Before updating any sort of operating system, it’s a great idea to back your iPhone up. Whilst it’s not expected that anything will go wrong, there’s always the chance. By saving your data down elsewhere, you can save the pain of losing it all.

Actually downloading iOS 13.4 is the easy part! First, you need to make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi. You will need to keep your phone connected to Wi-Fi for the entire download of the operating system. Next, head to Settings – General – Software Update and your phone will begin searching for the latest available update. Once this has found iOS 13.4, just hit the software update button and lay back.

This new iOS can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours to download. If you don’t want to sit around and wait for the download and installation to complete, you could always set automatic updates and make sure your phone does it during the night.
