Huawei Mate 20 Pro User Review

The latest handset from Huawei is the Mate 20 Pro, and being an office of tech lovers, it was inevitable that at least one of our team would be ordered one for themselves on release date. So, we wanted to know what they thought of the latest handset so we could share with you. Here is a quick lowdown from one of our happy Huawei owners.

Tempted to the Dark Side

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is my first foray into the world of Android. For as long as they have been around I have been an Apple owner, but there was something about this handset that really caught my attention. The merits so far have left me a dual phone user, and I have to confess I love my new phone.

Unique Features

So, of course like many potential owners, the camera was a huge lure, I love photography and have a Nikon camera set up that I have loved for a long time. The first thing that struck me was the seriously impressive close-up ability of the Huawei. Secondly, the lowlight images left my other handset standing.

I was stunned by the clarity when I took the same picture with both handsets, standard snap, no trickery, leaving the software to do its thing without user input. While neither handset felt the conditions warranted flash help, the Huawei image was so much brighter and true to life. Impressed.

Charging Overload

There is so much to say about charging the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. First of all the super fast cable that comes in the box takes your flat as a pancake handset from 0-70% in just half an hour. Secondly, it is also wireless and having a wireless handset already it has been a joy just to put the Huawei down and find it charging on the same cradle. No proprietary charger rubbish here, all three of my different brand chargers scattered around the house accept and charge the Mate 20 Pro.

Finally, this is the only handset I have seen with two-way charging. This really speaks to the technology geek, and I won’t be the only user to want to see this in action. So, when the handset arrives, you need to enable the feature in the Battery menu from Settings, and then it really is as easy as pie. Place your two wireless devices back to back and, voila, your other device will begin to charge using the juice from the Huawei Mate 20 Pro – seriously this is Nerdvana!

Recommended?

Without a single doubt, I totally recommend the Huawei Mate 20 Pro if you are looking for a high-end phone. It is much easier to take out and about than my Nikon and the images are more than impressed with the triple lens arrangement. It feels like a premium handset, it is really fast, and the Android with the Huawei skin over the top gives it easy navigation and intuitive feel. Considering I have no Android experience I have so far found this phone a joy to own.
