OnePlus 8T Rumours

With such a large, dedicated fanbase, there’s no surprise at the amount of OnePlus 8T rumours that are in the air at this time of the year. We regularly see new ideas and renders from OnePlus and summer brings all the expectations that are due to come at the end of 2020. This year, OnePlus fans haven’t held back from what they’re expecting to see. With such amazing OnePlus deals already on the market, it will be hard to imagine what’s coming next.

Release Date and Price

Whilst there aren’t many rumours suggesting exact dates for the release of the next OnePlus smartphones, those that are around all seem to be in agreement. It’s highly anticipated that the next major release will be for the 8T and 8T Pro. Each year, we see OnePlus’ flagship handsets released in spring, followed by another range of smartphones in autumn. This tends to be the flagship T variant. Following with their other releases, we can expect to see this year’s addition sometime in autumn. One thing we can be certain of is that there will be an 8T and 8T Pro.

You can start to figure out rough prices for the OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro by taking a closer look at the releases earlier on in the year. The OnePlus 8 was priced at around £599 with the Pro variant being £799. These two devices were released in April 2020 and are extremely reasonably priced for the technology they offer. With the 8T line appearing around October, we can expect higher prices for the two devices. October 2019 brought the 7T line so we can pretty much follow that timeline. We know prices will rise from this series.

Starting with the 8T, you can probably expect it to cost around £649. This was the price of the 7T when it was first released. Of course, as it’s almost a year on, those prices would have dropped slightly. With the 8T Pro, you can expect prices to start at £849. These prices haven’t been confirmed but you can work out from previous releases a rough estimate. We’re sure OnePlus will announce the true prices closer to the release date.

OnePlus 8T Rumours

In terms of colour options, rumours suggest that you’ll get the same choices as you do with the original devices. This means that when purchasing the 128GB version, you’ll only be able to purchase it in Onyx Black. With the higher storage option, 256GB, you have again, a small colour choice with only Glacial Green available. This goes for anyone buying from or in the UK. OnePlus offers a different colour range to different countries. For some reasons, they have decided to change this in almost each country. We will hopefully be lucky enough to enjoy a few different colours in Autumn.

So far, we haven’t seen any actual leaks or renders of the new devices. It’s safe to assume that there isn’t going to be a major change in the design as OnePlus have never made any huge changes. That being said, there were noticeable differences between the OnePlus 7 and 7T. It’s highly expected that we can expect to receive a punch hole selfie camera to give you the very full screen view. A few rumours suggest that the 8T will keep the 6.55 inch screen but see a refresh rate of 120Hz.

As for the 8T Pro, you should get to experience the 6.78 inch QHD OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. Of course, you’re probably wondering what makes the Pro variant batter, other than a few millimetres In fact, the regular 8T will only have an FHD screen whilst the Pro version will hold a QHD. This will allow the OnePlus 8T Pro to hold a list advantage over the lower variant and still offer a higher specification.

More to know

One of the very popular OnePlus 8T rumours going around at the moment is that there won’t be a McLaren Edition. In previous years, we’ve seen a further variant release, partnered with McLaren. This is a very exclusive device and has a much higher price but is also in high demand most years. With this version, OnePlus increases the memory size and gives the UI a makeover. You also get a very noticeable black and orange colour design. It has been confirmed that the partnership has come to an end, meaning no McLaren editions for quite some time.

Another super impressive part of all OnePlus devices is the camera. They’ve never failed to make a great quality camera for an affordable price and the 8T line is expected to uphold that. It’s suggested that you can expect the same camera set up on the OnePlus 8T and the original 8. This has a 48MP main lens, 16MP ultra wide and 2MP macro lens. A few OnePlus 8T rumours are suggesting that a telephoto lens may be added to the T variant to give it that push.

Other than a new lens, there are also talks that the colour filter will be introduced to other lenses. This will allow you to get even more creative however, has not yet been confirmed. Already, you can capture some super clear, detailed shots from the camera set up but there isn’t the chance to get too creative. This would really open up the market for OnePlus.
