29 May Samsung Galaxy S20 Series Camera Updates
At the start of 2020, we saw the release of the brand new S20 range from Samsung and June brings us the Samsung Galaxy S20 series camera update. Customers have started to realise that photos produced from the S20 range, specifically the S20 Ultra, don’t quite meet standards. In fact, they don’t present that of a 108MP lens at all. Is this really the case? If so, what’s Samsung doing about it?
About the S20 Ultra Camera
2020 has introduced a huge range of high tech, innovative smartphones into the mix. In particular, we get to welcome the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. This brought four new mobiles phones into Samsung’s range, each with some extremely high end specifications. At the higher end of the range is the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. This is a 5G compatible device whilst being the most expensive addition in the 2020 S line. Bringing us a super powerful camera set up, big things were expected from this smartphone. Every inch of this device is full of class and professionalism.
Just by looking at this smartphone, you can tell you’re going to experience a high end device. With one of the biggest displays found in any of Samsung’s ranges, the S20 Ultra holds a 6.9 inch dynamic AMOLED display. With a screen this large, you’ll be able to view everything you love in the highest level of detail. To make sure you get that full screen feeling, Samsung have removed bezels from the phone as well as included a punch hole camera. This gives you more room to view all the important things.
Moving on to the rear camera, you’ll find a quad lens camera features on the back of the phone. This consists of a powerful 108MP wide lens, 48MP periscope telephoto lens, 12MP ultrawide lens and a 0.3MP depth lens. From each of these lenses, you can expect power, clarity and a new level of detail. This camera is one of the most powerful on the market with the largest lens in any other Samsung device. With each lens offering a different shooting experience, you will be able to get very experimental with your images. Shoot from different angles, zooms and styles.
Issues with the camera system
From the start, customers have started to notice a few different issues with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra camera. With both the front and back cameras were seen to have quite clear autofocus issues from the start. The smartphone cameras have not been focusing on photos as much as they are expected to. This is leaving customers with blurry, low quality images, which was not what was advertised. One of the most noticeable issues is when trying to take photos of objects from closer up.
These issues were suspected to be down to the phone having hardware limitations. These limitations would limit how close the S20 Ultra can get to objects whilst showing them in higher quality. Of course, this then resulted in numerous complaints. A spokesperson said that the S20 Ultra has a focal length of 10cm or more, causing possible background blur when zooming in on an object. This would cause a few issues for anyone trying to photograph documents or details.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Series Camera Updates
There have actually been a few different camera updates for the S20 handsets already to help improve the quality of the photo produced. These updates paid special attention to the autofocus feature. Following on from these updates, Samsung is focusing on an all new update to allow the camera system to work at it’s best. This may include a camera app as well as a few enhancements but nothing has yet been set in stone. As most of the updates that have been available on the S20 Ultra already have been around the camera, we can be sure a few more will be too.
Samsung did manage to fix a lot of the camera issues that have been experienced with the first few updates. Although a few issues have been fixed, consumers are still experiencing a few noticeable issues. Samsung reps have released statements advising that these issues will be sorted very soon.
It is hoped that the issues with autofocus should be dealt with pretty soon. It is also expected that the fingerprint sensor is going to receive a little improvement to be much faster and more accurate.
Overall, it’s pretty clear that Samsung are going to be issuing the Samsung Galaxy S20 series camera update very shortly. This will allow customers to make full use of their smartphone cameras. Don’t worry too much, your photos will be as clear as you expect them to be very shortly.
